THE JOSEPH HOUSE ENGLEWOOD

OUR HISTORY
The Joseph House Englewood started over 15 years ago as a dream, a desire, a longing to help men who were incarcerated at the Montgomery County jail who desperately needed a place to live. I was teaching a class in the jail when I realized that a majority of the men being released needed a safe, drug free, accepting place to recover. Year after year I would see the same men back in my class, only to find out they had nowhere to go but back to the same haunts and fears that kept them in the vicious cycles they were in. My dream for a house turned into a PRAYER. Then one day I received a phone call from CHRISTIAN LIFE CENTER asking if I would meet with a man that was interested in prison ministry. Jeff Cleary and I met and decided to spend time together studying scripture and talking about ministry to men who were incarcerated. After nearly 2 years together we decided to write a request to the church about starting a sober living/ Recovery house for men who wanted to recover from their addictions. The church granted our request and set aside the money to start up and rent the now Joseph House for a year. The Joseph House Englewood has been in existence since 2018. The first years were difficult due to the lack of experience in the recovery field. Now, after those learn by experience years the Joseph House Englewood is alive with healing and hope for the men living there. Our dream now is to expand and have another house in the Englewood area where more men can find healing and hope.
